Sennheiser has officially launched its Momentum 5 Wireless headphones, promising audiophiles enhanced performance and unprecedented user convenience. Equipped with advanced Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) technology and a user-replaceable battery, the new model aims to keep pace in an increasingly competitive market.
Taking lessons from its predecessor, the Momentum 4, Sennheiser retains a familiar design featuring large ear cups while embedding substantial upgrades beneath the surface. The headphones boast a total of eight microphones—four on each side—dubbed to deliver noise cancellation that significantly reduces ambient sound, particularly during phone calls and in noisy environments like airplanes. According to Sennheiser, this enhancement makes the Momentum 5 up to three times more effective in filtering out voice chatter than earlier models.

Consumers eager for high-fidelity audio will appreciate the introduction of Hi-Res Audio certification along with the support for AptX Lossless streaming. This advancement allows users to enjoy CD-quality sound at 16-bit/44.1kHz, provided they pair the headphones with compatible devices powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Sound platform. However, compatibility remains a limitation, with select Sony and Motorola smartphones qualifying, leaving devices from Samsung, Google, and Apple behind.
The Momentum 5 also delivers impressive battery life, boasting up to 57 hours of continuous use—just shy of the 60 hours offered by the Momentum 4. This flourishes alongside an updated carrying case that is 20% smaller, demonstrating Sennheiser’s commitment to portability without compromising functionality.
Pre-orders for the Momentum 5 Wireless headphones will begin on June 30, 2026, with a retail price set at $399.99, reflecting a $50 increase from the previous generation. In addition to classic colors like black and white, Sennheiser will also release a stylish denim-blue variant.
Beyond these immediate enhancements, Sennheiser has teased a future firmware update that would upgrade Bluetooth 5.4 to the latest Bluetooth 6.0, although a timeline for this addition remains undisclosed.
As Sennheiser continues to push the envelope in wireless audio technology, the Momentum 5 stands poised to attract both audio enthusiasts and casual listeners alike.
