In a significant move to expand its smart lighting ecosystem, Philips Hue has introduced innovative wired wall modules that enable non-smart lights to seamlessly integrate into its platform. Available exclusively in Europe, these modules mark a transformative step for homeowners looking to elevate their lighting systems without complete overhauls.

The newly launched wired wall modules are designed to be installed behind existing wall switches, allowing users to control traditional light fixtures—such as recessed ceilings and pendant lights—through the comprehensive Philips Hue app. With three distinct configurations, priced from €44.99, the modules cater to various switch types, including single-rocker, double-rocker, and dimmer options. Additionally, a wired variant of the existing battery-powered wall module offers enhanced control capabilities and integration with the new whole-home motion-sensing system.

Despite the excitement surrounding these modules, Philips Hue's Chief Technology Officer, George Yianni, confirmed that a U.S. launch is not currently on the horizon, citing a preference in the American market for fully integrated switch solutions over DIY alternatives. "We'd definitely consider options based on demand. It's encouraging to see the reception of our new modules in Europe—it’s something we've contemplated for quite some time,” Yianni remarked.

Philips Hue has also unveiled more economical versions of its popular Play lamps, designed to sync with entertainment systems to create immersive environments. The new Play Table Lamp and Play Floor Lamp are now available at $79.99 and $149.99, respectively, and can synchronize with music, movies, and gaming through compatible apps.

Alongside these advances, the company has upgraded its E14 candle bulbs, which now boast a greater lumen output and a wider color spectrum, thanks to the incorporation of Matter-over-Thread technology for streamlined connectivity with Apple Home and Google Home ecosystems.
